WIRELESS INTERNET AT HILLSDALE P.S.
Just prior to the Christmas Holidays, our school received installation of a wireless network, similar to that which is occurring in each school in the Durham District School Board this school year. This now allows staff with greater opportunities to infuse technology at the point of learning/instruction. It also allows for the more effective use of the 12 mini-laptops for student use (purchased in December) and for the expanded use of personal devices for educational purposes.

During inclement weather, the Durham District School Board may attempt to keep schools open, but this does not mean that students must be sent to school. It is the parent's/guardian's responsibility to decide if inclement conditions are safe for their child(ren) to go to school. Please check with local radio and television stations or the DDSB website for information if inclement weather forces the cancellation of school or school bus services.

Pre-registration for the Full Day Kindergarten Programs will begin by telephone after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17. Children eligible for the Junior Kindergarten pre-registration must be four years of age by December 31, 2012.  If your child is attending JK at Hillsdale this year, you do not have to call to register for Kindergarten next year. These students will be automatically placed in June. Students registering for September 2012, who are out of area, will need final permission from the Principal to attend. This practice means that resident area pupils, registered by the first day of classes, will have first priority in the program at their local school. In the spring, parents who have pre-registered their children will come to the school for the formal registration of their child. At this time, proof of the child's age must be presented, along with the immunization records. Please pass this information to your neighbours and friends who will have children attending school for the first time.
